Vintage wristwatch restoration stories

About

In 2012, I started a blog to document my experiences as a developing amateur watchsmith of sorts. Since then, it is fair to say that the site has gained a significant degree of traction, and with the increasing volume and scope of content, the page views have ticked along to a level that I could not have imagined at the start.

However, this growth has resulted in a site that is a little difficult to navigate unless you are already a hardened watch geek and it is this that has prompted me to launch this new site which I hope will be much more accessible to people who may be new to the world of vintage watches and watchmaking. I should emphasise at this point that amateurwatchfettler.com is not intended as a replacement for adventuresinamateurwatchfettling.com. My intention is simply that it act EITHER as a minimalist standalone taster of the wonders of vintage Japanese (predominantly) watches OR that it can provide a more accessible navigational gateway to the original blog where all of the gory and geeky watchmaking detail can be found.

I have tried to adopt a minimalist approach in designing the site and to this end it is focussed more on imagery than than words. The homepage is organised as a gallery in which each one of the twelve images links though to a separate page dedicated to a particular sub-group, brand or sub-brand of watch. Each linked page contains a selection of watches within each category, with a short description containing a link to the original blog post describing the restoration in detail.
